Georgia O'Keeffe's Life
Young Art
Georgia took to art at a young age and went to study at the Art Institute Of Chicago in the early 90’s. Later in New York, she was studying with the greatest artists, such as William Merritt Chase. Georgia was a member of the Art Students League during this time.
Abandoned Art
In 1908 Georgia Abandoned the idea of becoming a artist, introducing that she could never live the life of an artist because she could not live with creating the same pictures everyone else was doing. She then took up a job in Chicago as a artist for advertising different things. She did not paint for four whole years. Luckily she changed her mind when she was inspired to paint again in 1912, when she took a class at the University of Virginia during summer. There she was introduced to the ideas of Arthur Wesley Dow by Alon Bement.
Art Work
Georgia O'Keeffe after she resumed her art work she made beautiful art work mainly with flowers in them. Some were very simple but brilliant and some are amazing close up flower.
Blue Morning Glory
Blue Morning Glory is an amazing piece of art work as it is simple but very beautiful with its simplicity. I love the spectacular colours adventuring out of the middle of the flower, the focal point for me would be the inside of the flower. The colours used are a mixture of a dark blue, mixed with a soft purple, white cream colour, sometimes mixed with blue making a tint or a purple and a bright, soft hue of yellow. I believe she has highlighted the centre of the flower with the darkness of the petals and the light shine of paint in the middle, for me the centre looks like a sun beam coming from a night sky, the amazing brightness of the centre makes it look magical. The light source seems to be coming from the left hand side of the painting.
Blue Morning Glory was made in 1938 on a oil canvass. It is painted of a beautiful soft blue flower, which is place in the centre in a small vase. You can not see the the steam of the flower in the vase. The vase is a soft creamy tint. The flower and vase is placed on a table that has a soft texteral look but rough at the edgers, it is a very soft blue. The table colour makes you feel warm ad safe. The back ground is a creamy tint, very close to the colour of the table but is not blue it is a very light pink.
What is the intension of Georgia O'keeffe's art work?
I believe the intension of Georgia O'keffe's art work would be to do her own Art work not do the same thing over and over again. She did this before she quit her art career. But after she had been to a University of Virginia in the summer and saw some art work done differently then every one, she decided to go back to her art and started drawing, painting and creating her amazing close up art work mostly on flowers. They are not like any other art work they are unique to Georgia O'Keeffe.
